Well, folks, it’s a slow news Friday. And honestly, after a week of getting our collective minds blown by the latest smartphone with an extra .02 inches of screen real estate at Mobile World Congress, we could use the breather. It’s like the tech world finally took a deep inhale before diving headfirst into the next unnecessary product launch.

Which brings us to today’s Very Important Story. Sony has unveiled the DualSense wireless controller – The Last of Us Limited Edition. And by "unveiled," I mean they took the same DualSense controller that’s been out for years, slapped on some glossy black trophy icons, and called it a day. Groundbreaking stuff, really.

The Art of Repackaging: PlayStation’s Bold Innovation

According to Naughty Dog’s design team, this controller is meant to "memorialize The Last of Us franchise." Because nothing screams true emotional tribute like a $84.99 controller with a moth on it. Forget the gut-wrenching storytelling, the beloved characters, or the critically acclaimed gameplay. What fans really needed was a slightly shinier way to press X to pay respects.

Sony promises that "three particular images will immediately stand out for TLOU fans: The firefly, moth, and wolf." Ah yes, nothing encapsulates the duality of human nature and the struggle for survival like controller decals. The true essence of art.

Limited Edition... Until the Next Limited Edition

The controller will be available in limited quantities, which is marketing speak for "we’ll sell just enough to create FOMO, then probably rerelease it in six months with an extra smudge of gold trim." But don’t worry, lucky buyers will get the privilege of handing over nearly 85 bucks for a design refresh that probably took 15 minutes in Photoshop.

If that weren’t enough, PlayStation reminds us that "in the coming months, PC players will be able to continue the acclaimed story of this iconic franchise with The Last of Us Part II Remastered." Yes, because what the world desperately needed was yet another version of a game that already got a remake, remaster, and a TV adaptation. We get it, Sony, you’re going to sell us the same game until we’re playing it through brainwave-controlled VR headsets in 2035.

Pre-Orders Open Soon, If You Care

For those with an extra $85 burning a hole in their pockets, pre-orders open on March 14, 2025. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go prepare for next week's announcement of a "brand-new" PlayStation 5 color variant. My guess? Shiny Midnight Grey.
